In 2018 we will again offer weekend seminars for yoga students with some exposure to Iyengar Yoga. All teachers have developed their individual accent and focus, based in Iyengar Yoga, but the tradition has widened over the years. All workshops will be taught in English.

Workshop 3: Introduction to yoga for scoliosis
June 8 - 10, 2018 with Marcia Monroe

We welcome Marcia Monroe for the third time in Berlin. During this visit we will again focus on the use of modified yogapostures for asymmetries and scoliosis. As a longtime Iyengar yoga teacher, Marcia sees this method as an ideal and thorough approach to use yoga in the three-dimensional aspects of scoliosis and asymmetrical posture.
During the past workshops in Berlin Marcia freely shared her knowledge with us and worked individually with every case in the room. Her openness with her own physical history inspired us to investigate our own 'curves' and encouraged us to get closer to our own symmetry. The workshop is suitable for students and teachers with minor back problems, asymmetries and scoliosis. We will focus on lengthening the spine and pay attention to stability, flexibility, strength, balance and especially the awareness of the breath.
Marcia was born in Braziland today lives and teaches in New York.

Workshop 4: Centering with Earth's Gravity
September 29 - 30, 2018 with Patricia Sullivan

After 40 years as a teacher Patricia Sulivan looks back at a large horizon of experience with yoga and Buddhist meditation. She was also influenced by her studies in Qigong. Her explorations in posture and balance in the Egoscue method have influenced her teaching direction. Patricia lives and teaches near San Francisco and this year's visit will be her fourth to Berlin.

Patricia teaches awareness via the details in the poses, and attentiveness via the breath, while she encourages students to learn to listen to the body's subtle messages in order not to do too much, or too little. Something happens which goes beyond or deeper than just doing yoga poses 'correctly', or having a good workout. And this 'something' has to do with the mental/emotional aspect. It is a mystery how one 'hears', but to have that intention seems to turn us toward the experience of inner acceptance. The 'listening' shows habitual thought patterns which are no longer useful in one's life, if they ever were. This might lead to 'emptying oneself' into simplicity. Via the practice, the mind becomes calmer. Repeating patterns stop (nirodah) and ease and peace have the opportunity to spread for a little while. Fulfillment comes from being satisfied, instead of always wanting more, or wanting to avoid things.
